Brazos River Access Detail: The I-10 Bridge

About six miles east of the town of San Felipe, the I-10 Bridge crosses the Brazos.

This is a newly finished bridge. The best access, at the time I scouted, was on the north side of the bridge on the west bank.

Like most of the accesses I scout on the Brazos, this one has no restrooms, picnic tables or grills. And, like the others Brazos accesses, this is a class 3. For explanation of river accesses ratings please read the articles Classification of Water Accesses and Scouting River Bridges & Accesses.

Exit the freeway west of the river to the feeder road. There is a paved drive to the river. There is a generous but currently unimproved area to park and stage equipment and gear at the top of the bank.

At the time I scouted it the access was a broad and flat slope, subject to temporary deterioration from rain.

Upstream about five and a half miles is the San Felipe 1458 Bridge. Nearly seventeen miles downriver is the Simonton 1093 Bridge.

For details on other river accesses please see the bottom of the article Classifications of Water Accesses.

Thanks for reading!
